Celebrating Poland National Independence Day
If you walked through BSix Sixth Form College on Friday10th November, you would have noticed that there was an array of red and white decorations and students in red and white clothing.
This was in celebration of Poland Independence Day, to commemorate the anniversary of the restoration of Poland's sovereignty as the Second Polish Republic in 1918 from the German, Austrian and Russian Empires. The red and white was to reflect the country’s flag, which was proudly hung in the BSix canteen. During break time the canteen was immersed with Polish music and the Student Union donned their finest red and white ensembles, headed behind their Student Union desk and promoted the events for the day. During lunchtime students enjoyed polish delicacies such as, bigos and pierogi, while watching a Polish songstress and her guitarist perform an array of traditional Polish songs.
