BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Vocational Studies – Business Administration
Studying Business at BSix
This qualification is designed to create interest and help you to understand what skills and knowledge are needed to enter the business industry. You will gain a sound foundation of business ready for progression to Level 2. This qualification will develop your life skills and get you prepared for a business career. You will study a variety of units in business:
  • Self-Assessment
  • Career Progression
  • Making and Receiving Calls
  • Understanding Business of Retail
  • Working in Business and Administration
  • Creating Business Documents
  • Supporting Business Meetings
  • Welcoming Visitors
  • Recording Business Transactions

You will work towards creating a portfolio of evidence that will be assessed not only by your subject teacher but also by an external verifier.

Alongside the qualification, you will also be working towards Functional Skills English and Maths at the relevant level.

Progression:
With the Vocational Studies (Business Pathway) at Level 1, you can progress onto Level 2 Business, Public Services or IT.  This progression is dependent on gaining a pass grade, excellent attendance, commitment to your college studies and an interview with the relevant Head of Department.  You will also need to have shown commitment and a good level of skill in both Maths and English.

Entry Requirements:
Four GCSE’s at grand E including English Language or equivalent.

Recommended Reading:
Course books are required and can be borrowed for a whole year from the library
