BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Information and Creative Technology
The BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate is a one year full time course that provides students with the skills to progress to further study on qualifications such as the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT and ultimately into the IT employment sector. This course is equivalent to four GCSEs.

This new qualification has embedded units from the Business and Creative Media Production qualifications. It will give students the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques as well as personal attributes essential for successful performance in both their academic and their working life.

What will I study?
Learners taking the Extended Certificate qualification, benefit from learning about different types of IT and computing technology from across the different pathways. Understanding how different IT and computing technologies interact provides learners with further opportunities for synoptic learning, which would benefit their progression to level 3 and eventually into employment.

How is the course taught?
This course is taught through various methods. Some will be practical experience, lecture style lessons, group work, presentations and simulation based worked. You will get a range of units which will be taught in different engaging ways.  

Progression:
On successful completion of the level 2 qualification, you can progress to employment or you can continue on with us and go on to the BTEC Level 3 ICT course which will be challenging and engaging.

Recommended Reading:
Course books are required, you can get these from the library. There are a range of magazines that you can also read in regards to the latest technology. The library has a range of subscriptions to many technology based magazines.
