Foundation learning Courses
Entry level/level 1

These are designed for students who are unsure about their future work opportunities, and enables them to experience different subjects in applied areas before deciding on a career or educational pathway. We welcome students with no formal qualifications and varying learning needs who may require additional learning support to complete their studies. Assessments will be completed during interview and induction to identify the most appropriate programme.

Central to the course are units designed to develop the personal and social skills of students including the three functional skills of English, Maths and ICT needed for successful entry to all careers. Entry 2, 3 and Level 1 students extend their study by choosing from a range of applied pathways including:
  • Business
  • Creative arts
  • Health care

Assessment is by coursework and examination.

On completion of this course you will have a variety of progression pathways to choose from including the Level 1 applied Diplomas. Click here for more information on:

"The college provides an inclusive environment for learning and celebrates its students' cultural diversity through a broad range of activities in the college and the local community. Students say, and inspectors agree, that all individuals and groups of students are treated with equal
respect. Managers monitor equality and diversity well, and have ensured that there are no persistent differences in outcomes or college experiences between students from different heritages.”
